Wood Shooting

In the Tang Dynasty, a ball game involved rolling a ball from the ground to hit wooden posts. Players scored points by striking posts marked with virtues like "Ren" (benevolence), "Yi" (righteousness), "Li" (propriety), and "Zhi" (wisdom). However, hitting posts marked with vices such as "Man" (arrogance), "Ao" (pride), "Tan" (greed), and "Lan" (excess) resulted in no points.

Cujue Experience

Cujue is a traditional sport that involves kicking a ball with the feet. We will invite a world record holder in freestyle football and a two-time champion of the Hong Kong freestyle football competition as our instructor. They will teach students the art of freestyle cujue, focusing on techniques for controlling the ball using different parts of the body, fancy dribbling skills, and basic freestyle moves. This experience is exclusive to our event in Hong Kong!

Rolling Iron Rings

In this game, participants use a metal rod or hook to control an iron ring, guiding it along a designated path on the ground. This activity requires good balance and strength, making it both a fun and challenging experience.

Tossing Arrows into the Wine Jar

In this game, the host and guests take turns throwing arrow shafts into a wine jar. Each player has four arrows and starts the toss from a distance of two and a half arrows away from the jar. It’s a fun and engaging way to enjoy competition and skill!

Archery

In this traditional practice, archers follow specific procedures and movements to shoot feathered arrows at a target using a traditional Chinese bow (hua gong). The process emphasizes essential elements such as posture, etiquette, mental focus, and personal cultivation, all of which contribute to the physical and mental training of the archer.

Chinese Juggling

Students will have the opportunity to experience the rich culture of Chinese juggling through props such as plate spinning and diabolos (Chinese yo-yos). This engaging activity not only teaches juggling techniques but also immerses participants in the vibrant traditions of Chinese performance art.

Stilt Walking

Stilt walking is an ancient children's toy that involves connecting wooden blocks, tin cans, or coconut shells with ropes. Participants pull the ropes to keep the stilt upright while using their feet to control movement. Another variation includes adding long wooden rods to the soles of shoes, allowing for a unique and fun way to move around. This activity enhances balance and coordination while providing an enjoyable experience!

Lion Dance Experience

In this workshop, an instructor will teach students the basic steps of lion dance and the fundamental techniques of playing the gong and drums. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this vibrant art form, learning about its cultural significance and experiencing the energetic movements that bring the lion to life!

Ring Toss

Originally an entertainment activity in the imperial court, ring toss eventually made its way into the public sphere, evolving into a traditional folk game in China. Participants throw rings from outside a designated rope area, aiming to land them around desired items. If successful, the item becomes the thrower's possession. This game combines skill and luck, making it a fun challenge for players of all ages!

Traditional Chinese Medicine Experience

In this session, students will learn about the four diagnostic methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine: observation (望), listening and smelling (聞), inquiry (問), and pulse taking (切). Participants will have the opportunity to engage in practical diagnosis, and ready-made herbal remedies (such as cooling teas) will be provided to help students understand how to match treatments to specific conditions. Chui Wan (Club Ball)

Chui Wan is an ancient ball game that involves walking with a stick to hit a ball, similar to modern golf but without riding horses. Players aim to strike the ball into a series of holes or targets with as few strokes as possible. This traditional activity combines skill, strategy, and physical exercise, offering a fascinating glimpse into historical sports and their evolution over time.

Jianzi (Shuttlecock Kicking)

Jianzi is a traditional game that involves a weighted shuttlecock made from feathers or paper and fabric attached to a circular base. Players use various kicking techniques, such as lifting the shuttlecock with the inside of their foot and kicking it upward or forward. This enjoyable activity enhances balance, coordination, and agility, making it a popular pastime for people of all ages.
